SHIATSU translates to finger (shi) pressure (atsu) and is defined by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare as: “Shiatsu therapy is a method of manipulation performed using the thumbs, fingers, and palms, without any instruments, mechanical or otherwise, to apply pressure on the skin, rectify internal dysfunction, promote and sustain health, and address specific ailments.”

What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork therapy based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Using gentle pressure, stretches, and touch along the body’s meridians, Shiatsu helps restore balance and encourages the body’s natural healing response. Sessions are deeply grounding and supportive on both physical and emotional levels.
